Elaine made her home in Luling, Louisiana, beginning in the mid-1970s, where she resided for approximately 20 years. It was there that she found what she considered her best job, working as a daycare worker at the First Baptist Church of Luling. She dearly loved the children, and that love was returned to her tenfold. The children affectionately called her "MawMaw," a name that reflected the warmth, love, and nurturing spirit she shared with them.
Although she treasured her time caring for those children, Elaine's most rewarding role was being a homemaker for her own family. She embraced that role with all her heart and, without a doubt, was the very best at it. Her love and devotion to her family were among her greatest gifts.
After retiring, Elaine moved to Brusle St. Vincent, Louisiana, where she embraced and enjoyed the simpler pace of country life. Some of her happiest moments were spent when her children and grandchildren would stop by to show off their bounty from the swamps. These visits brought her great joy and gave her the opportunity to share in their adventures and accomplishments.
Elaine was also a devoted sports fan who cheered on the LSU Tigers and the New Orleans Saints with unmatched passion and enthusiasm.
Elaine was preceded in death by her son, Brent Rivere; father, Gib Anselmi; and mother Mandy Terrebonne.
She is survived by her husband, Hansel Rivere, Sr; daughter, Melissa Hebert (Kevin Rodrigue); Hansel Rivere, Jr. (Michelle); Tommy Hebert; Scott Rivere; sister, Theresa Terrebonne; brother, Joel Terrebonne (Lynn); five grandchildren, Justin Rivere (Courtney); Chase Hebert (Natasha); Garrett Rivere (Kayla); Dylan Hebert; Chance Delaune (Marlyne); and six great grandchildren, Cali Hebert, Gemma Hebert, Jessie Rivere, Lanna Rivere, Carter Hebert and Antoine Rivere.
While Elaine leaves behind a tremendous void in our hearts, she has also left us with countless memories to cherish for a lifetime. Although we will miss her dearly, we find comfort in knowing that she is now at peace, resting in the loving arms of Jesus and reunited with the loved ones who went before her.
The family would like to extend their deepest appreciation to the CCU staff at Thibodaux Regional Medical Center for the exceptional care delivered with genuine compassion, kindness, and understanding.
A visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 21, 2026, at Ourso Funeral Home in Donaldsonville, Louisiana from 10AM until Religious Service at 11AM. Interment will follow in the Saint Charles Mausoleum in Luling, Louisiana.
