Elizabeth Smith

Raine Elizabeth “Betty” Oncale Smith, 83, a long time resident of Donaldsonville, La, was entrusted to God’s care on Saturday, August 31, 2013 at Baton Rouge General Hospital-Bluebonnet. She was an avid golfer, loved her Wednesday “Ladies day” with friends, bookkeeper for the family business, loving wife, mother, and grandmother.

She is survived by her five children, William “Bill” Smith and wife Theresa Ford Smith, of Donaldsonville, Rhonda Smith Haydel and husband Danny Haydel of Prairieville, Randy Smith and Adrienne Schexnayder, Elizabeth “Budda” Smith Cataldo and husband Michael Cataldo, and Harry Smith and wife Nancy Louque Smith all of Donaldsonville; 13 grandchildren, Ellyn Smith Braud and husband Jake, William Smith and wife Julie, Conner Smith, Renee Haydel Trimble and husband Kevin, Rick Haydel and wife Kelly, Hayley Haydel, Jason and Brian Smith, Abbie, Andy, and Jody Cataldo, Jeanie Smith Pennison and husband Colby, and Harry “Tank” Smith; six great-grandchildren, Sophie Smith, Londyn Pennison, Kallie Trimble, Jackson Trimble, Hayes Haydel, and Bailey Begnaud; and one sister, Doris Arboneaux. Preceded in death by her loving husband of 56 years, Harold C. Smith; parents, Arnold Sr. and Laura Oncale; two sisters, Victoria Bourg and Lorraine Oncale; seven brothers, Helt, Norman, William, James, Arnold Jr., Rene, and Nicholas Oncale.

Family would like to give a special thanks to all the doctors and nurses who cared for her, especially Dr. Darren Breaux and staff and Dr. Glenn Schexnayder. They would also like to extend appreciation to all those who supported the family during this difficult time.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 3, 2013 at 8:00 a.m. – 10:30 a.m. Ourso Funeral Home in Donaldsonville. Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 11:00 a.m. at Ascension of Our Lord Catholic Church in Donaldsonville. Interment to follow in church mausoleum.
