Mr. Ourso spent the past several years living in Baton Rouge with his son, Bill Ourso, and daughter-in-law and caregiver, Charlene Ourso. He was a lifelong resident of Donaldsonville, LA.
Floyd was known for his humor, jokes, and gift for storytelling. He had a remarkable ability to make others smile and laugh. You would often find him playing cards and telling jokes with his friends and family.
Born and raised in Donaldsonville, Floyd proudly answered the call to serve his country by joining the United States Army. He served honorably during World War II. His military service remained one of the greatest sources of pride throughout his life.
Following his military service, Floyd built a successful career in the insurance industry with Union National. His dedication earned him a 25-Year Service Pin and Watch in 1976, and he remained with the company until his retirement.
In 2015, Floyd received the distinguished honor of being named an Honorary Deputy Sheriff with the Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office, an achievement he treasured and often shared with pride.
An avid baseball fan, Floyd especially loved LSU Baseball. In 2023, he experienced one of the highlights of his life when he was invited to throw the ceremonial first pitch at an LSU VA baseball game at Alex Box Stadium.
Floyd was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Laura Ann Landry Ourso; his son, Floyd “Chuck” Ourso, Jr.; and his longtime friend, Marie Landry.
He is lovingly survived by his children: Bill Ourso (Charlene Jones Ourso), Judith Ourso Carbo (Ulysses Carbo) and Todd Ourso (Pam Ourso); his 12 grandchildren: Nicole Ourso Chetta (Nicholas), Jennifer Loudenslager Burris Elbourne, Richard Loudenslager (Linda), Jacy Carbo Gauthier (Jeffrey), Joey Carbo, Jenae Carbo, Floyd “Nick” Ourso, III (Amanda Haigwood Ourso), Charles "Chuck" Ourso (girlfriend Lauren Capone), Shane Castille, Dustin Ourso (Brandi), Curtis Ourso, Meghan Ourso Shockney (Zach) ; 17 great-grandchildren : Holden Ourso, Emerson Chetta, Alex Burris, Sterling Elbourne, Joslyn Loudenslager, Conner Loudenslager, Nolan Loudenslager, Payton Gautier, Mila Gauthier, Aidan Ourso, Sophie Ourso, Grayson Ourso, Ethan Ourso, Lochlan Shockney, Emma Shockney, Chloe Castille and Zoe Castille.
Heartfelt thanks and appreciation goes out to the caregivers of Vital Caring Group Hospice. The Louisiana Department of Veterans Affairs, Louisiana Sheriffs Association and local law enforcement for their deep compassion, protection and dedicated service.
Floyd’s legacy of laughter, patriotism, kindness, and unwavering love for his family will live on in the hearts of all who knew him. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
A Night Wake will be held at Ourso Funeral Home, 134 Houmas St, Donaldsonville, Louisiana 70346, on August 6, 2026, from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm, there will be a rosary recited at 6:30PM. Visitation will continue at St. Francis of Assisi Church, 818 W 10th St., Donaldsonville, Louisiana 70346, on Friday, August 7, 2026, from 9:00 am to 11:00 am, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 am.
