Genevieve "Genie" Robert Landry

Genie was a devout Catholic who cherished her faith. A proud parishioner of Ascension Catholic Church in Donaldsonville, she sang in the choir, served as a Eucharistic Minister, was a dedicated member of the Liturgical Committee and Spiritual Motherhood. Her faith remained persistent throughout her life.

Genie and her former husband, Gus, were the co-owners and founders of Landry Insurance Agency, Inc./Shelter Insurance. She was also a supportive and active member of Al-Anon.

Above all, Genie adored her family and treasured every moment spent with them. She had a remarkable gift for making everyone she met feel special and like family.

She leaves behind to cherish her memory her three children; Brent Landry (Kristen), Pierre Landry (Holly), and Jeanne Landry Wright (Chad); nine grandchildren, Jacques Landry, Joseph Landry (Carley), Chase Wright (Paige), Elaine Landry, Allie Wright, Garrison Landry, Maggie Landry, Amy Wright, and John David Landry; three great grandchildren, Chandler Landry, Lila Landry and Wren Wright; four siblings, John Robert (Priscilla), Peter Robert (Connie), Carolyn McCauley (Carol) and Marie Hebert (Cleo); one sister-in-law, Winnie Robert and numerous nieces and nephews and extended family members.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Clarence “Gus” Landry; two children, Amy Landry and Duane Landry; one grandson, Matthew Landry; parents, Octave and Ruth Brewerton Robert and her four siblings, Matthew Robert (Dorothea), Robert Robert, Paul Robert (Ouida) and Mary “Betty” Robert.

A visitation will be held at Ourso Funeral Home in Donaldsonville, LA, on Saturday, December 13, 2025, from 8am until 11am. Following the visitation, we will begin a rosary at 11:30am at Ascension Catholic Church followed by Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will be held in the church mausoleum.
