Grace was born to Milton and Grace Schmidt on July 8, 1926 in Donaldsonville. She was a graduate of Ascension Catholic High School and worked for a short time in banking before marrying the love of her life, Marcel Graugnard, Sr., to whom she was married for twenty-seven wonderful years until his untimely death. Together they were blessed with five children. Just as Jesus fed the crowds, nourishing in both mind and body through his Father, Grace did the same as she lived a life of unbreakable faith in Jesus Christ. All who knew her loved her for her passionate commitment to the Lord, her family and friends, and her Catholic Faith. She devoted countless hours to serving her church. She enjoyed traveling, attending plays at the Saenger Theater in New Orleans, and cooking, especially when making crawfish bisque each year with her children. Grace was preceded in death by her husband, Marcel Graugnard, Sr., parents, Grace and Milton Schmidt, sisters, Lois Stevens and Linda Schmidt, and son-in-law, Robert Lemann, Sr. Grace is survived by her five children - three daughters, Carol(Randy) Bonnecaze, Dee(Robert) Lemann and Sally(Martin) Cancienne and two sons, Marcel(Stevie) Graugnard, Jr. and Milton(Jackie) Graugnard and seventeen grandchildren who absolutely adored their “Gamie” because she enriched their faith journey with love – Michelle Doherty, Melissa Grissom, Brett Bonnecaze, Robert(Bubba) Lemann, Jr., Ben Lemann, Matthew Lemann, Jason Lemann, Marcel(Beau) Graugnard, III., Alyson Graugnard, Andrea’ Graugnard, Paul Cancienne, Charles Cancienne, Michael Cancienne, Denise Kahm, Lauren Hood, Lindsey Foret and Gregory Graugnard. She was especially blessed with thirty-three great-grandchildren who filled her heart with laughter, joy and love. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to Restore the Convent (Ascension Catholic School), 311 St. Vincent St., Donaldsonville, La. 70346 or Assumption Association for Retarded Citizens (ARC), P.O.
