Guy Joseph Sanchez

He was born to Clarence and Marie Sanchez (Landry). Guy lived the later part of his life in Northern California but had a rich upbringing in Southern Louisiana. He was active in the Boy Scouts and attended Ascension High School in Donaldsonville. At Ascension he received, "The Most Valuable Back" honors playing football. He later attended LSU, when also taking summer jobs as a welding assistant, grain warehouse worker and ad salesman for the Tiger Rant at the LSU Reveille. He was an avid church goer who enjoyed hunting and going fishing with his father and brothers.

He graduated from LSU with a BA in 1957. After college, he enlisted in the US Army for two years working as a Communication Director for the troops while stationed at Walter Reed and Presidio Hospitals. After the Army, he worked for Texaco outside of Houma, LA. as a radio man, receiving production outflow information from Kaya Island.

Guy married his wife, Sandra and then moved to Baton Rouge where he was the first salesman at the upstart, Catholic Commentator, for two years. With a third son on the way, Guy and his wife decided to move to California, where he sold ads for the San Francisco Chronicle and the San Jose Mercury News. While in San Jose, he raised his sons and was an avid LSU and 49er fan. After 23 years at the Mercury News, he retired to Aptos, CA, where he was active in the Knights of Columbus. He and his wife decided to live out their retirement in Fair Oaks, CA outside of Sacramento. While there he continued his work with the Knights of Columbus and Divine Savior Church.

He is survived by his children, Paul, Chuck and David Sanchez, his brother, Clarence "Buddy" Sanchez, and Sister Mary Ann McClendon.

Guy is preceded in death by his wife, Sandra, his parents, Clarence Sanchez and Marie Sanchez (Landry), and brother Ronnie Sanchez.

The pallbearers will be Paul Sanchez, Chuck Sanchez, David Sanchez, Ron Sanchez, Bart Sanchez and Kirk Sanchez.
