Huey was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend whose love for family and community touched many lives. He spent most of his life as a sugar cane farmer, taking great pride in his work. In addition, Huey served as a bus driver in Assumption Parish for twenty-five years, where he was known for his dedication and friendly spirit.
An active member of Cruising Cajun’s, Huey found great joy in traveling with his friends. He also loved dancing, cooking, gardening, and gathering with his loved ones for Sunday fish fries at the camp. His warmth, generosity, and appreciation for life's simple pleasures will be remembered by all who knew and loved him.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory his wife of sixty-nine years, Katherine Simoneaux; four children, Huey “Sonny” Simoneaux Jr. (Renee), Mary Blanchard (Rusty), Betty Gauthe (Phillip) and Julie Boudreaux (Toby); nine grandchildren, Ross, Katelyn (Colby), Bobby (Cara), Becky (Andre), Sam (Sadie), Shawn (Seth), Steven (Audrey), Kyle (Ana) and Abagael (Cole); thirteen great-grandchildren, Kohen, Kamryn, Karoline, Emma, Robbie, Eli, Isaac, Ashlynn, Eva, Lylah, Noah, Ellie and Finn; his brother, Kenneth Simoneaux (Teetsie) and sister-in-law, Rosemary Simoneaux.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Felix and Vivian Simoneaux and his three siblings, Carolyn Blanchard, Felix Simoneaux Jr. and Honore Simoneaux.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to his caregivers, Bonnie Cavalier, Tanya Jeansomme. Diddy Buxton and Ramona Boudreaux and Cardinal Hospice for their care and support throughout their time of need.
