James Maurice Gravois “Jimmy”, age 75, passed away on Saturday, April 28, 2012 surrounded by his loving family at the Carpenter House in Baton Rouge, La. He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years Mrs. Geraldine “Deany” Williams Gravois; five daughters Heidi McDonald and husband Blake, Donna Sinclair and husband Dr. Bill, Trudy Clement and husband Chris, Ginger Gravois Webre, and Myra Pitts and husband Bill; son Jim Gravois Jr. and wife Malissa; two sisters Beverly Bond and husband Charles and Ruby Daigle and husband Eddie “Mike”; sixteen grandchildren Ashley McDonald Raynal and husband Stephan, Brett Gravois and wife Melissa, Blake McDonald Jr., Ryan Gravois and wife Natalie, Chase Gravois, Matthew Sinclair, Justin Sinclair, Nikki Clement, Connor Sinclair, Trent Clement, Hunter Webre, Henson Webre, Hailey Webre, James Gravois III, Logan Pitts, and Brittany Pitts; two great-grandchildren Finn Raynal and Melanie Gravois; and also numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, and uncles. Preceded in death by his parents Hilda Tauzin and Renè Louis Gravois and stepmother Edith Barrient Gravois. Pallbearers and altar servers will be his grandsons. He was a 1955 Graduate of Catholic High of Donaldsonville, a member of the Knights of Columbus Council #8906 of Thibodaux, a retired Sugar Cane Farmer, Entrepreneur, and a founding member of LA Health Care Group of Lafayette. Jimmy’s favorite past time was cooking. He loved food and with Deany’s help, they put together a cookbook called “Cook N Tell”. He catered fund raisers in Washington D.C. and throughout the United States for many Senators and Congressmen. He loved football and was a critic of bad plays. He also love to reminisce about his old high school days at C.H.S. of Donaldsonville. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 1, 2012 at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church in Vacherie from 9:00 AM until Mass of Christian Burial at 2:00 PM. Officiated by Rev. Mark Toups. Entombment will be in the church cemetery. Memorial donations can be made to St. Joseph Hospice “The Carpenter House”of Baton Rouge, LA and Cypress Springs Mercelarion Prayer Center of Baton Rouge, LA Ourso Funeral Home of Donaldsonville is in charge of arrangements.
