James Madere

James Milton "Moon" Madere, Sr. died peacefully on Thursday, July 28, 2016 at his home surrounded by his family at the age of 77. James retired from the Lafourche Levee District for which he worked for 47 years. James was survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Lena Mae Madere; five sons and their spouses, James Madere, Jr. (Donna Falcon Madere), Ray Madere, Dan Madere, Wayne Madere (Shelly Cedotal Madere) and Jerry Madere (Sherry Bourgeois Madere). He was blessed with 13 grandchildren, Derek, Brent, Matt, Kimberly, Cody, and Shawn Madere, Lacey Madere Martin (John), Ramsey Madere (Ashley), Brooke Madere Caballero (Brandon), Hunter Madere, Jarred Madere (Hali), Jude Madere (Jada), and Jaxon Madere. He was also blessed with 13 great grandchildren; Raelynn, Jacelyn, Jade, Brylie, Brady, Baleigh, Brinley, Skiler, Ethan, Jacob, Heather, Damian, and Amiyah. He was preceded in death by his parents, Maurice and Celine Madere; his daughter in law, Tracy Lynn Madere; and his grandson, Casey; sister, Alice Tortorich; and brother and sister in law, Maurice Jr and Lucette Madere. Visiting will be at Ascension of Our Lord Catholic Church, Donaldsonville on Saturday, July 30, 2016 from 8 am until Mass of Christian Burial at 10 am. Entombment to immediately follow in the church mausoleum. Fr. Paul Gros will be officiating. Pallbearers will be Ramsey Madere, Shawn Madere, Brent Madere, Derek Madere, Jude Madere, and Hunter Madere. We would like to give a special thanks to Pastor Chris, Ms. Stephanie Truehill, Ms. Tee, Ms. Cheryl, and Ms. Carver and all of the St. Joseph Hospice Staff.
