

Jerry was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend. He was a proud Navy veteran who honorably served his country for twenty years, retiring as a Chief Petty Officer from the United States Navy. Jerry was a talented and capable man who could do just about anything he set his mind to. Jerry was a pilot who taught flying lessons and an avid scuba diver. He was a man of many interests and took great pride in the things he created and the time he spent doing what he loved. In his spare time, he enjoyed playing golf, playing the guitar, and woodworking.
He is survived by his loving wife of thirty-seven years, Laura Cassard Werner; special fur baby and companion, Cooper; five children, Robin, Penny, Debbie, Jeri and Kasie; eleven grandchildren; twenty-five great grandchildren and his siblings, Peggy, Terry, Brenda, Shelley, Mel, Kerry and Bill.
He is preceded in death by his father, Melvin Werner; mother, Merlyn Paternostro (William); his two siblings, Russell and Elise and his in-law’s Eldridge and Bernice Cassard whom he loved dearly.
The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to Callie, Rose, and the compassionate staff of Cardinal Hospice for their dedicated care and support during their time of need, as well as to the sitters who provided exceptional and loving care for Jerry.
A visitation will be held at Ourso Funeral Home in Donaldsonville, LA, on Wednesday, September 9, 2026, from 10am until Religious Service at 11am. Conducting the service will be Fr. Matthew Dupre. Interment to follow in the Ascension of Our Lord Catholic Church Mausoleum.
