John Anthony Hymel

He grew up in Vacherie, attended Ascension High School, and was proud to serve as a volunteer at the West St. John Fire Department for many years. He worked many years in the trucking industry and enjoyed seeing the country while on the road. When he wasn’t in the truck, he was helping in the cane field, following a passion passed down from his father. He finished his career driving locally, where he spent time with his friends and family. He was a cherished brother and uncle.

He is survived by his sister Carol Hymel Webre and her husband Kynan Webre of Chackbay, his nieces Ashley Webre, Aimee Johnson (Tyler), and nephew Austin Webre. He was preceded in death by his parents Maurice and Leola Pollet Hymel.

The family would like to thank the staff at Chateau Napoleon who loved and cared for John as much as we did.

A memorial visitation will be held on Tuesday, March 3, 2026 from 9:30 am until the memorial mass at 11:00 am at St. Philip Catholic Church in Vacherie. Inurnment to follow in the church mausoleum.
