He was a loving father, grandfather, great grandfather, and friend. John enjoyed fishing with his family, cutting grass, planting potatoes and giving them away, and riding his Kubota on the property. John was a proud veteran of the United States Air Force where he was a first class Police Airman. He served his country for four years from 1952 until he was honorably discharged in 1956. John retired from Avondale Shipyard after seventeen years of service in which he operated a Derrick Crane and then went on to operate a crane barge for CF Industries on the river.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory his five children, Julie M. Guillot (Thomas), Debra M. Joffrion, John L. Mouret Jr., Vernon P. Mouret (Dewana), and Alan C. Mouret (Elaine); eleven grandsons, Thomas "T.J." Guillot, Ryan Guillot, Justin Joffrion (Shelley), Jake Joffrion (Jade), Joey Joffrion (Sommer), Josh Joffrion (Kimberly), Cory Mouret, Joshua Mouret, Rodney Mouret, Vernon "V.J." Mouret, and Tate Mouret and five great grandchildren, Jaxon Joffrion, Jensen Joffrion, Landry Guillot, Emalynn Claire Mouret and soon to be Jolie Joffrion.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Mary Angelina Sisneros Mouret; one great granddaughter, Faith Guillot; parents, William Sr. and Irma Schoeny Mouret and one brother, William Joseph Mouret Jr. and one son-in-law, Kenneth Joffrion.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, December 4, 2021 at Ascension of Our Lord Catholic Church in Donaldsonville from 9am until Mass of Christian Burial at 11am. Interment to follow in the church mausoleum.
Pallbearers will be: Ryan Guillot, Corey Mouret, John Mouret Jr., Billy Mouret, Justin and Josh Joffrion.
