Tommy was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend. His life was defined by love, generosity, and service to others.
After dedicating thirty-two years as a mechanic with Shell Oil, Tommy retired and spent his time enjoying the outdoors and piddling in his shed. He loved hunting, fishing, crawfishing and gardening. You could often find Tommy riding around the neighborhood on his side-by-side or cutting someone’s grass on his tractor.
Tommy was known for his selflessness. He consistently puts the needs of others before his own, always ready to lend a hand or offer support to anyone in need. His kindness and spirit left a lasting impression on everyone who had the privilege of knowing him.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory his wife of sixty two years, Dorothy Caruso Hood; three children, Thomas “Tom” Hood (Frankie), Gina Hood Diez (Clint) and Kirk Hood; ten grandchildren, Bryan Hood (Ellie), Cody Hood, Taylor Diez (Carlos), Austin Hood (Rebecca), Jordan LaGrange (Jacob), Kassidy Hood, Isabella Hood, Gage Hood, Kameron Hood and Barbara Husser (Ben); nine great grandchildren, Wesley and Wells Martin, Adeline, Laura, Mary Hood, Alyse and Abigail Hood Bailey and Brock Vreeland and baby LaGrange; ten siblings Judy Melancon, Beth Daigle, Ann Dill, Jonnie Burt, Dana Newchurch (Tommy), Nell Lanoix (Randy), Rocky Hood (Sharon), Ben Hood, Robin Hood (Phyllis) and Kent Hood (Bridget).
He is preceded in death by his parents, Johnny Sr. and Shootie Hood; two siblings, Kelly and Scott Hood and his four brothers-in-law, Gerald Melancon, Percy “Coco” Daigle, Stanley Dill and John Burt.
