Judith "Nettie" Himel Sparks

Judith “Nettie” Himel Sparks was born on July 10, 1951 and passed away peacefully on May 7, 2025 at the age of 73 with her beloved brother Leroy Himel by her side, holding her hand. Born and raised in Donaldsonville, LA, she spent many years in Kentucky creating cherished memories before settling in Gonzales, LA, where she resided at the time of her passing.

Nettie is survived by her sons: Glen Fulkerson(Dorian), Nick Fulkerson(Kati) and Johnathan Fulkerson and was blessed with twelve grandchildren and ten great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her son Doug Fulkerson, her first husband Glen Fulkerson, her second husband Lonnie Sparks and her parents Theophile and Josephine Himel.

Nettie was the beloved sister of: Connie Thibodaux, Catherine Ward, Larry Himel, Leroy Himel and Leo Himel (Brenda) and the late Beatrice Walker, Marie Palermo, Rita Mae Goetz, Jeanne Darcie, Cynthia Goetz, Joyce Diez, AJ Himel, O’Neil Himel and Linwood Himel. Loving Godmother to Scot Himel. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, family members and friends who will miss her dearly.

Nettie found joy in the simple pleasures in life - pulling the handles at the casino, traveling to the mountains, eating meals at her favorite restaurants, and watching the Discovery Channel. Above all, Nettie treasured time spent with her loved ones, always bringing a smile, warmth and laughter. She will truly be missed as she leaves behind a legacy of love and unforgettable memories.

Family and friends are invited to attend a Memorial Gathering at Ourso Funeral Home, 134 Houmas St. Donaldsonville, LA 70346. The visitation for family will begin at 9:30AM and friends are welcome to join in at 10AM with a service at 12 Noon.
