

He was a native and resident of Donaldsonville and a proud graduate of Ascension Catholic High School, Nicholls State University and LSU where he earned his Bachelors, Masters and Plus 30 degrees in Education and Administration. He was a teacher, coach and principal for over 40 years guiding students at Ascension Catholic and Donaldsonville Elementary in Donaldsonville, St. John in Plaquemine, East Ascension in Gonzales, St. Joseph’s in Thibodaux and St. Elizabeth in Paincourtville. He and his wife, Kaaren owned and operated The Scoreboard Sports Shop for 23 years. He served for over 40 years on the Ascension Parish Jury Selection Committee. He was also an avid golfer and served as a Course Marshall at Pelican Point. After retirement, Larry remained devoted to his Alma Mater, Ascension Catholic volunteering and keeping the clock at all home basketball games.
Larry is survived by his beloved wife of 62 years, Kaaren Oufnac Dugas, daughter, Aimee Dugas Walker and her husband, Robby, daughter, Ashley Dugas Sagona; grandchildren, Bailey and Taylor Walker and Jacob Sagona, sister in law Nancy Oufnac Hebert and husband Charles, niece Patti Dugas Carpenter and husband Malcolm. Preceded in death by his parents, Harry and Novelia Falcon Dugas, brother and sister in law, Harold and Lois Dugas, nephews, Richard “Butch” Dugas, Matthew Hebert and Eric Hebert.
Pallbearers will be Jacob Sagona, Robby Walker, Todd Veale, Clark Vega, Steve Baronich and Larry Grayson. Honorary pallbearers are Bucky Mistretta, Gene Harrell, Mike Landry and Charles Hebert.
Visitation will be at Ascension of Our Lord Catholic Church in Donaldsonville on Saturday, July 27, 2024 from 9:00 am until the Mass of Christian Burial at 12:00 pm conducted by Father Matt Dupre. Interment to follow in the church mausoleum.
