Linda Gravois Johnson

May 26, 1948June 7, 2021

Linda Agnes Gravois Johnson, age 73, of Paincourtville, Louisiana, passed away June 7, 2021. To know Linda was to love her beautiful singing, phenomenal cooking, enthusiastic picture taking—and incomparable gratitude for each new day. A devout Christian, loving wife, and beloved mother and grandmother, she was also a respected colleague who served as longtime radiology department head at Prevost Memorial Hospital in Donaldsonville. She worked as a registered X-ray technologist, office manager, lab assistant, and certified medical assistant and phlebotomist in positions at the Pierre Part Clinic and in clinics in Covington and New Orleans as well. She was also known to many for her years as director of the St. Elizabeth Catholic Church choir. Undoubtedly, though, Linda would say that her greatest accomplishment was her family, and the love and prayer that she poured into them was remarkable. She is preceded in death by her parents, Edgar and Agnes Gravois, of Donaldsonville. She is survived by her husband, Richard Johnson; daughter Shawn Johnson Gustafson, her husband Ryan and their two children, Joel and Julia, of Houston; daughter Stacey Johnson Vincent, her husband Darren and their two children, Noah and Georgia, of Youngsville; and her sister, Mary Lou Gravois Guillot of St. Amant. Visitation will be held Friday, June 11, 2021, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church in Paincourtville, with a funeral Mass beginning at noon. Burial will follow at First Baptist Church of Napoleonville, concluding with a reception on the grounds for family and friends.

My memory of Linda was of the last time I saw her. She was having a debate with her daughter Shawn on who was the bigger fan of Garth Brooks. Since I don't remember who won, it must have been me. One of the songs she remembered and liked was The Dance. A song that speaks of the pain you feel when someone you love has left your life. This pain is small compared to the Love and Happiness that the individual has already given you. Be blessed that you were given the opportunity to be Loved by Linda.

Our thoughts and prayers are with Rick, Shawn, Stacy, Mary Lou, and their families. When I remember Linda, the one word that comes to mind is devotion. She was devoted to her faith, her family, her patients, her friends, and her community. Whether directing the choir, leading the rosary, or helping others, the joy of God’s love would shine through. Her never-wavering faith carried her through the difficulties of her illness. May she now enjoy the rewards of eternal life, and may her family find comfort as they cherish the memories of this truly special person.

Sincere sympathy to Rick, Shawn, Stacy and their families. Linda was a kind and loving friend. She’s been a part of our family for so long it’s like a part of us is gone. There are no words to say how much you meant to us, If I needed someone to talk to you were there. You were always uplifting with your thoughts and prayers. I loved your reactions when you got excited. It meant so much to hear your joy. You have been sadly missed over the last few months and will be missed even more now than ever. You will always be in our thoughts, prayers and hearts. RIP our friend we love you. Tommy, Regina, Cherish, Noah and Brailon
