Lois Martinez deBessonet

Lois Martinez deBessonet,” Maw Maw Lois”, was a loving mother, wife, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was born on September 10, 1928 and died at her home on April 29, 2017 at 6:05 p.m. at the age of 88. Lois was a lifelong resident of Donaldsonville and a graduate of Donaldsonville High. She was an active member of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church.

Lois is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Linda & Frank Tripode and her son and daughter-in-law, Stephen & Terry Badinger deBessonet; 5 grandchildren: Lisa Tripode Morris, Brian Tripode & wife Amy, Kevin Tripode & wife Summer, Jill deBessonet Guitrau and husband Heath, Kim deBessonet Bergh and husband William; and 10 great grandchildren: Morgan LeBlanc, Alyssa LeBlanc, Madison Tripode, Raegan Tripode, Brennan Tripode, Kale Guitrau, Kane Guitrau, Khoen Tripode, Sebastian Tripode and Sadie Bergh. She was preceded in death by her husband, William “Billy” deBessonet, her parents, Lionel Martinez Sr. and Sadie Mullet Martinez and brother, Lionel Martinez Jr. Pallbearers will be Brian Tripode, Kevin Tripode, Heath Guitrau, William Bergh, Marty Martinez, Raymond Templet, Philip Lala and Charles Bourgeois.

The family would like to extend special thanks to the Amedysis Hospice Staff, especially Beth Bourgeois and Ms. Lois. Extra special thanks also go to Sera Bessonet & Mary Thibodaux as well as her caregivers (Celeste Walker, Connie Lanoix, Billie Deshautelles, and Dottie Cavalier) who have been her angels here on earth.

Visitation will be held at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, Donaldsonville, Louisiana on May 6, 2017 starting at 8 a.m. followed by the Mass of Christian burial at 11 a.m. Entombment will be in the Ascension Catholic Church cemetery. Father Paul Yi and Father Joe Vu will be officiating. In lieu of flowers, please donate to St. Jude’s Children Research Hospital.
