

Mary Ann was born January 25th, 1950 in New Orleans, Louisiana. She attended St. Cecelia School, and graduated from St. Joseph High School in 1967. She briefly worked at The Times Picayune, then spent many years as the school secretary at Our Lady of Prompt Succor School in Chalmette, La. After Hurricane Katrina, she briefly relocated to Fletcher, North Carolina, before settling in Donaldsonville, La. in 2008, where she worked as a secretary for Attorney Sidney A. Marchand III up until her stroke on November 30th, 2021.
Mary Ann is survived by her three sons: Joseph (Tanya), Thomas, and Steven Garic; her seven grandchildren: Lindsey Garic, Katelynn Lasalle, Tristan Tyner, Gianna Garic, and McKayla, Jahda, and Ahnika Lukaszewski; her one great grandson: Dayton Washington; her sister Claire (Vinson) Serio; her godchild/niece Tammy (Lucas) Cuccia; and her niece Michelle (Brian) Medus.
Mary Ann is preceded in death by her parents, Lloyd and Clara Rhodes; her sister, Margaret Zanco; her nephew, Leon Zanco; her aunt, Theresa Frey Cooper, and other relatives.
Mary Ann had a passion for Mardi Gras and the New Orleans Saints. She loved playing the slot machines at casinos. She enjoyed watching the Gameshow Network, Survivor, and Dancing with the Stars. She loved eating crawfish, and always insisted on having Cheetos with a can of Coke as a side. For every Endymion Parade, she always made sure she made enough of her special cold cut sandwiches with pickles to feed the entire parade route. Her favorite pastime was spending time with her grandkids playing cards or games with them.
A visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 26, 2022 at Ascension of Our Lord Catholic Church in Donaldsonville from 9am until Funeral Service at 11am. Cremation to follow.
