

Mary spent her life devoted to her family. She was a wife, mother, grandmother and friend who will be greatly missed. She enjoyed fishing, raising parakeet and cockatiel birds, and cooking her Sunday dinner specialty, meatballs and spaghetti. She also loved to bake her Italian cookies but most of all spending time with her family.
She is survived by her husband Joseph V. Porto Jr. of 62 years and her three children; Debra Porto, Joseph Porto III (Dana), and Chad Porto; three grandchildren; Debra Wendt(Troy), Elise Porto and Libbey Porto; two great grandchildren; Jacob Sumrall and Hailey Wysingle.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Louis and Rose Scalise Genusa; three brothers Camello Genusa Sr., Biaggio Genusa and Louis Genusa Jr.; and three sisters, Catherine Genusa, Alice Zito and Rosie Daquano.
A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, June 24, 2025 from 10:00 am until the Mass of Christian Burial for 11:00 am at Ascension of Our Lord Catholic Church in Donaldsonville. Inurnment to follow in the church mausoleum. Father Matt Dupre will officiate.
