Mercedes Templet Sanchez

She was a retired nurse of 38 years, a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend who will be greatly missed. In her younger days, she loved to dance and would be on the dance floor every chance she had! She also loved to sew and help her sister, Madge, sew and bead wedding dresses and Mardi Gras costumes.

She leaves behind her loving daughter, Danette Newchurch (Kirk); three grandchildren, Jamie Carmouche (Donnie), Kristy Chiquet (Timmy) and Ryan Newchurch (Nick); and two great-grandchildren, Hunter and Peyton Chiquet.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Milton and Lena Blanchard Templet; three sisters, Myrtle Ourso, Madge Gomez and Geraldine Marquette.

The pallbearers will be Ryan Newchurch, Nick Toups, Timmy Chiquet, Donnie Carmouche, Hunter Chiquet and Peyton Chiquet.

The family would like to thank all of the nurses and staff of Amedisys Hospice for the excellent care given to her.

A visitation for will be held on Thursday, June 5, 2025 from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Ascension of Our Lord Catholic Church, until the Mass of Christian Burial for 11:00 am in Donaldsonville. The entombment will follow in the church mausoleum. Father Paul Yi will be officiating.
