Nell Bertaut Dominique

Nell Ena Bertaut Dominique, age 95, passed away on Monday, November 26, 2012 at Heritage Manor Nursing Home in Napoleonville. A native of Welcome and former resident of Belle Rose. She was a retired Postmaster of Belle Rose with 29yrs of service and first elected lady Sheriff of Assumption Parish for 2 ½ years of service.

She is survived by son Lawrence “Larry” Dominique and wife Carolyn Mayers Dominique; daughter Virginia “Cookie” Dominique Curtis; half-sister Linda Carroll Aguzin; brother Louis Bertaut; three grandchildren Lyn Martin, Philip Dominique, and Christopher Curtis; six great-grandchildren Kesley Martin, Taylor Martin, Peyton Cedotal, Joseph Curtis, Caroline Dominique, and Andrew “Drew” Dominique.

Preceded in death by her husband Sheriff Albert “Red” Dominique; parents Carroll Bertaut and Virgie Preaux Bertaut; three sisters Marion Boudreaux, Eula Lee Schloegel, and Mearl Haydel; one brother Carroll Bertaut; and granddaughter Kimberly Cedotal.

Visitation will be on Wednesday, November 28, 2012 at Ourso Funeral Home of Donaldsonville from 6pm until 9pm and Thursday, November 29, 2012 at St. Jules Catholic Church of Belle Rose from 9:30am until Mass of Christian Burial at 11am. Officiated by Rev. Andrew Merrick. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
