Nicholas Joseph Porto, Sr., a native of Chicago, Illinois and resident of Donaldsonville passed away on December 7, 2018 at the age of 84. He was a loving father, brother, grandfather, and friend to many. He enjoyed hunting, and especially having coffee and biscuits with old friends at the local Mc Donald’s. He served as Staff Sergeant in the United States Air Force during the Korean War and was a faithful member of the St. Joseph Society, the Knights of Columbus, the American Legion and the VFW. He was also voted Citizen of the Year by the Donaldsonville Chamber of Commerce in 2010. He is survived by one son, Nicholas Porto, Jr. (Christie); one sister, Cecile Porto Inzarela; two brothers, Joe Porto (Mary) and Philip Porto; and one grandson, Cody Porto. He is preceded in death by his loving wife of 46 years, Joyce Porto; his parents, Jenny and Joseph Porto, Sr.; one daughter, “Baby Girl” Porto; one grandson, Beau Porto; one sister-in-law, Francis Porto and one brother-in-law, Charlie Inzarela.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 12, 2018 at Ourso Funeral Home in Donaldsonville from 8:30 am until the Mass of Christian Burial at Ascension of Our Lord Catholic Church for 11:00 am.
