Percy R. “Puddin” Daigle, 86, a native and resident of Donaldsonville, passed away March 2, 2012. He was a World War II Naval veteran and was assigned to the Marine Corps in Iwo Jima. He was a Eucharistic Minister at Ascension of Our Lord Catholic in Donaldsonville and was instrumental in establishing the Eucharistic Ministry at Angola Prison. Puddin was a member of the VFW and Knights of Columbus. He was a volunteer for the D’Ville Fire Department, an Auxillary Deputy for the Sherriff’s office, and a licensed funeral director from 1948 to present. He was a lifelong member of Ascension of Our Lord church parish, an avid fisherman and hunter.
Puddin is survived by his wife of 61 years, May Dugas Daigle; daughter Regina Daigle Lauland; son and daughter-in-law Jeff and Nyra Daigle; daughter-in-law Nanette Blanchard-Daigle; three grandchildren Shanna Guidry, Jake Daigle, and Hannah Daigle; grandson-in-law Byron Guidry; two great grandchildren Camryn and Madilyn Guidry; and brother Warren R. Daigle.
Preceded in death by son Collins James “Cheese” Daigle; parents Captain O’Neil James Daigle Sr. and Eva A. Coureges Daigle; and brother General O.J. Daigle Jr.
Puddin’s body was donated to science according to his wishes.
A gathering of family and friends will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 10, followed by a memorial mass at Ascension of Our Lord Catholic Church at 11:00 a.m.
