

Roland George Schexnayder, Sr., 92, died on Thursday, September 06, 2012. He was a native of Wallace and resident of Donaldsonville. He was a United States Army Veteran of World War II. Roland was a storekeeper for many years at Lauderdale General Merchandise until he went to work at Agrico Chemical Plant.
Roland is survived by six children and their spouses, Gayle and Tommy Nizzo of Donaldsonville, Jimmy and Linda Schexnayder of LaPlace, Stephen Schexnayder of Donaldsonville, Debbie and Kenneth Landry of Donaldsonville, Gordon and Missie Schexnayder of Donaldsonville, and Roland and Lori Schexnayder of St. Amant; 13 grandchildren and their spouses, Terry and Gretchen Nizzo of Baton Rouge, Lauren and Wade Walker of Gonzales, Michael and Christina Nizzo of Gonzales, Brian and Brittney Nizzo of Prairieville, Courtney and Lee Guidry of LaPlace, Amanda and Matt Noel of Baton Rouge, Josh and Jessica Schexnayder of Baton Rouge, Ashley and Chris Brown of Prairieville, Matthew and Kelly Landry of Prairieville, Abby Schexnayder of Donaldsonville and fiancé Grant Andrews of St. Amant, Janie and Gabe Clement of Napoleonville, Duston Schexnayder of Donaldsonville, and Dane Schexnayder of St. Amant and fiancé Morgan Vitale of Napoleonville; 20 great-grandchildren, Grace, William, and Georgia Nizzo, Hunter, Chase, and Elizabeth Walker, Thomas, Emma, and Charles Nizzo, Caroline Nizzo, Jude, Anna, and Gabriel Guidry, Ethan, Hayes, and Lucas Noel, Preston Schexnayder, Sophia Landry, Taylor and Olivia Clement; three sisters-in-law Marie Lousie Schexnayder, Laura Schexnayder, and Leila Schexnayder all of Donaldsonville; two brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Daniel and Rowena Laroze and Gerald and Bertha Laroze all of Gramercy; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by his beloved wife of 64 years, Laurence Laroze Schexnayder of Donaldsonville; parents Marie Winceslas Simon Schexnayder and Henry Joseph Schexnayder of Wallace; six sisters, Laura Schexnayder of Wallace, Aline Schexnayder Hymel of Wallace, Louisa Schexnayder Bourg of Donaldsonville, Stella Schexnayder of Wallace,Noelie Schexnayder Zeringue of Wallace, and Annabel Schexnayder Zeringue of Wallace; and six brothers Henry Schexnayder of Wallace, Norbert Schexnayder, Francis Schexnayder, Felicien Schexnayder, Laurent Schexnayder, and Nelson Schexnayder all of Donaldsonville.
Visitation will be held on Monday, September 10, 2012 at 8:30 a.m. – 10:45 a.m. at Ourso Funeral Home in Donaldsonville. Mass of Christian Burial to follow at Ascension of Our Lord Catholic Church in Donaldsonville at 11:00 a.m. conducted by Rev. Paul Yi. Entombment to follow in church mausoleum.
Pallbearers will be his grandsons, Terry, Michael, and Brian Nizzo, Josh Schexnayder, Matthew Landry, and Duston and Dane Schexnayder.
