

A loving husband, father and grandfather, he passed away on Monday, Nov. 22, 2010. Visiting at Ourso Funeral Home, Donaldsonville, Tuesday, Nov. 23, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. and Wednesday from 8 a.m. to 9:45 am. Mass of Christian burial at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, Donaldsonville, at 10 a.m. Entombment in the church mausoleum. Born Zenek Josef Klaczkiewiez, June 1, 1943, in Verden, Germany, in a Nazi labor camp. Sam began his life in America on Oct. 12, 1951, arriving in New Orelans aboard the SS General S D Sturgiss. He was the son of Joseph Klack Sr. and Honora Maj Klack. He is survived by his wife of nearly 43 years, Gail Comeaux Klack; daughter, Stacy Garrison and husband Donnie; sons, Sammy Klack and wife Amy, and Matthew Klack and fianceé Angie Blanchard; and grandchildren, Brandon, Joseph, and Rylie Klack and Griffin Waguespack. He is also survived by nephews, Slade and Damon Klack; sisters-in-law, Iris Breaux, Celeste Comeaux and Teri Klack; and a very special cousin, Edyta Szczepanska. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Joseph Jr.; sister. Barbara K. Bridges; and nephews, Nick and Christopher Bridges. He was a member of the International Longshoreman Association and New Orleans Steamship Association. He was a 1963 graduate of Donaldsonville High School. He was an avid sports fan, faithfully following the LSU Tigers and the New Orleans Saints. Not only was he a sports fan, he was a star athlete in his own right, playing and lettering in all sports in high school and even trying out for the New Orleans Saints in their first season.
