She found great joy in gathering her family around the table and especially loved cooking Sunday meals for them. Her roast and potato salad became a treasured family tradition and will forever bring back memories of Sundays spent together.
Shirley is survived by her husband of 71 years, Paul Cedotal; her children, Ricky Cedotal (Elaine), Rosie Landry (Bobby), Laurie Benedetto (Randy), Dwayne Cedotal (Erica), Corey Cedotal (Nicole), and Rusty Cedotal (Jacie); and her beloved grandchildren, Travis Cedotal (Shelly), Tessie Thibodaux (Gerard), Tyler Cedotal, Mindy Bourgeois (Chaz), Robbie Landry (Jodie), Jesse Benedetto (Kristin), Frank Benedetto (Natalie), Hunter Cedotal (Mariah), Haden Cedotal, Collin Cedotal, Aidan Cedotal, Rex Cedotal, and Madden Cedotal.
She is also survived by her many beloved great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren and godchildren who brought her tremendous pride and joy, as well as her dear and special friend, Debbie Blanchard, whose friendship and companionship meant so much to her.
Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, Cleveland and Louise Blanchard Berthelot; and her siblings Rose Mary Berthelot, Thelma Mabile, Thomas Berthelot, CJ Berthelot, and Catherine Berthelot.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate Shirley’s life on Tuesday, July 7, 2026, at St. Jules Catholic Church in Belle Rose. Visitation will begin at 9:00 am followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 am. Burial will be at St. Jules Catholic Church Mausoleum. Those honored to serve as pallbearers are Travis Cedotal, Robbie Landry, Hunter Cedotal, Haden Cedotal, Frank Benedetto, Jesse Benedetto, Aidan Cedotal, and Rex Cedotal.
Shirley’s legacy will live on in the family she raised, the meals shared around her table, the Sunday traditions she created, and the countless memories made in the home she filled with love. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew her.
The family would like to extend special thanks to the nurses and staff of Hospice of Baton Rouge, the staff at OLOL, especially Dustin Denicola and Ourso Funeral Home, for the care and compassion shown to Shirley and her family during her final days.
