
Beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. Susan was born December 22, 1946, to Rufus Joesph Landry, Sr. and Mariella “Beedy” Triche Landry. She attended Assumption High School, graduating in 1965.
She was married to Samuel “Buddy” Montero, Jr. until his death in 2011. Susan loved to read and spend time outdoors. She enjoyed gardening, fishing, and spending time at her camp in Grand Isle. She loved being surrounded by her family. Susan was married to Buddy in 1968 and moved to North Carolina while he completed his enlistment in the United States Marine Corp. They then returned home to Assumption Parish where she lived for most of her adult life. Susan and Buddy raised three children: Cherie, Chuckie and Ryan.
She was preceded in death by parents, Rufus and Beedy Landry, her in-laws, Samuel Montero, Sr. and Katherine LeBlanc Montero, her husband, Buddy, two brothers, Rufus “Doofy” Landry, Jr. and Kenneth “Nute” Landry, Sr., and brother-in-law, Rick Falgout.
She is survived by children, Cherie (Donald) Albro, Chuckie Montero, Ryan (Michele) Montero, grandchildren, Alycia LeBlanc (Tripp), Grant Montero (Amy), Matthew Albro, Declan Albro and Samantha Montero, daughter-in-law, Jenny Montero, three great grandchildren, her siblings Michael Landry (Gwen), Philip Landry (Bernadette), Stephen Landry, Sr. (Carrie), Kathy Yelverton (Jim), and Mark Landry (Kayte), sister-in-law Kitty Lou Falgout, and many special nieces, nephews and cousins.
The family would also like to thank the doctors, nurses, and other caregivers who helped Susan in her final years of life, including the staff at Thibodaux General Rehabilitation Hospital, Baton Rouge General Prairieville and Bluebonnet, and Sunrise of Baton Rouge, especially “her Laura.” And finally, special thanks to her sister, Kathy, and her "little friend," Paydan St. Romain, who cared for her deeply up until her passing.
There will be a private mass and burial at St. Anne Catholic Church in Napoleonville at a later date where she will be laid to rest in her family’s tomb, reuniting her with her love, Buddy.
In lieu of flowers, the family ask that donations be made to MD Anderson Cancer Center.
