Virginia will be remembered for her love of plants and flowers, family, friends that spans the time of our early childhood onward including The River Road, Catholic High, "The Club" & sooooo many more. This message comes all the way from Hamilton, NZ.  
For some strange reason I suddenly thought of the family, googled them, and was sad to see that Virginia passed away this week.
20 years ago I visited the family after spending time in Las Vegas completing my NZ teacher training.  There were x3 of us and we had met briefly with Dwayne in Atlanta before heading to New Orleans.  What was planned as a day visit to Donaldsonville turned into a week plus stay, and the most amazing hospitality!
I remember fun times with the family, helping unload Christmas trees, eating the most delicious gumbo and enjoying sharing yarns with Joe.  Virginia was pretty astute....but Joe was easily fooled, believing that we could walk to Australia at low tide, stay overnight on a floating pontoon when the tide came in, then continue the walk the following day!  He also thought we had special sheep that walked around the hills in one direction only, and that when ordering legs of lamb, you had to ask for a short leg or long leg ;-)

The fact that I can recall these fun memories after 20+ years is testament to what a special time it was with this family, and warmth we experienced from Virginia and the family.  My deepest condolences, thoughts are with you.

Ms. Virginia- I will always be praying for you above and beyond what you have done for me. Every time I see you, you say that you have loved and missed my family and I. The last time I saw you was when you came to see me do what I love in Tuscaloosa. I was grateful that you came up but now I couldn't be happier and enjoy more because spending just a day with you is all I needed to know that you will always be there for me and now it is time for me to repay you and believe that you will be in a place that you would not be happier in. Although you are not physically here today, you will always hold a spot in my heart.

Ms. Virginia was one of the most loving and loved people I've ever known in my life time. She cherished every day life gave her and I am so glad to have cherished every day life gave me with her.

Being a cousin to Virginia, I loved her very much. She was the sweetest, most welcoming,peaceful woman I have ever known. It pains me to say that she is gone, but  My entire family feels that sorrow.
