Walter "Wladyslaw" Dubis, a beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, was called home to be with the Lord on Friday, March 18, 2011, at D'ville House Community Care Center in Donaldsonville. A retired self-employed plumber, he was born in Kopytowa, Poland, in 1924, and survived the horrors of World War II. He immigrated to the United States in 1949 and lived out his life as a devout Catholic and an active member of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Smoke Bend. Visitation at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, Smoke Bend, on Monday, March 21, from 7:30 a.m. until Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m., celebrated by the Rev. Phil Spano. Entombment in Ascension Catholic Mausoleum, Donaldsonville. He is survived by five daughters and four sons-in-law, Helen and Barry Carbo Sr., of Gretna, Statia Cancienne, of Donaldsonville, Czeslawa "Sam" and Terry Manzella, of Covington, Barbara and Paul Grygor, of Silsbee, Texas, and Theresa and Chad Cavalier, of Pierre Part; two sons and daughters-in-law, William "Bill" and Janet Dubis, of Baton Rouge, and Ted and Darlene Dubis, of Donaldsonville; 21 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Irena Cioma Dubis; son and daughter-in-law, Francis Dubis and Clare Vetter Dubis; and two grandchildren, Lois and Irena Manzella.
