

Don was born in Paullina, Iowa to Walter H. and Hilda Warnke. Don was baptized and confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church in Paullina. He graduated from Paullina High School in 1957, and shortly thereafter came to California. Don passed away peacefully at home in Bellflower after a long struggle with Parkinson's Disease and associated complications at the age of 71. After many years of being trapped in a body that no longer worked, his spirit has been set free. Don was a beloved husband, father, brother, son-in-law, brother-in-law and uncle. In addition, he was blessed with many close friends throughout his lifetime. Don loved playing shuffleboard at Oskar's, trout fishing with his buddies and spending time with his family and friends. Don was a well-known Realtor in the Bellflower/Downey/Lakewood area, having worked for Century 21 Astro for 20 years. He derived much pleasure from his work and found his niche selling Real Estate after having worked in the aerospace industry in Sacramento, California. Don had a beautiful smile, quick wit, warmth and generosity that will be missed by all who knew him. Don will also be missed by his beloved cat, Nikki, who spent a great deal of time keeping him company. The family would like to extend its deepest gratitude to his caregivers from Cambrian Home Care, Alesha Brown, Fabricio Hernandez and Craig Scott, all of whom provided superb, loving care during his illness. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, October 16, 2010, at 2:00p.m., at Whites Funeral Home at 9903 East Flower Street, In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations in Don's memory to Providence TrinityCare Hospice Foundation at 2601 Airport Drive, Suite 230, Torrance, California 90505.
