Born February 20, 1950, in LaMars, Iowa

Died August 18, 2025, in Long Beach, California

Gloria is survived by her mother, Marguerite Valentine, son, Eric John Westhuis, his wife Melissa Joyce Westhuis, grandchildren Sadie Bell and Clayton Griffith Westhuis.

Also, brothers Darwin (Sandra) Valentine and Randall (Carla) Valentine both of Arizona,

Brother-in-law Richard Taylor (Brenda) Uncle John, Aunt Julia Vander Ploeg of Iowa and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her husband John Westhuis (married June 11, 1977, until his death July 29, 2015), Father John Valentine, and sister, Brenda Valentine Taylor.

Grandparents John T and Maggie Smit and Albert and Rose Valentine.

Gloria attended Mayfair High School in Bellflower and graduated in 1968. She then attended college at Cerritos College for certification in bookkeeping.

She worked for Muller, King, Mathis, Lopez and Akers in Downey for several years until she retired.

Gloria was active in her church, New Life Community Church of Artesia. She was deeply involved in the choir, including the Christmas bell choir that she looked forward to every year, and as Leader of a life group.

Her passions were, camping, fishing, crocheting, scrapbooking and traveling. She also got great joy out of her grandchildren having them for sleepovers, participating in their activities and watching their sports.

Gloria will be missed by those who loved and knew her.
