He was born November 22, 1929, in Brooklyn New York, the son of the late Joseph and Maria Stella Vasapolli. He was the oldest of 2 siblings. On January 14, 1951, he married Adele Macchia Vasapolli, and they enjoyed 62 years of marriage.
He proudly served in the U.S. Army during the post WWII era and during the Korean War era. After his discharge, he was employed by Santa Anita Race Track as a maintenance foreman for 32 years, retiring in 1995.
Mr. Vasapolli was a member of the National Rifle Association and an avid hunter and shooter. He spent many happy hours camping in the desert with his sons, exploring the great outdoors. He also never failed to send his daughter See’s candy every Valentine’s Day. His interests also included military history, and playing board games with his wife and children.
He is survived by his loving wife Adele, his son Joe and girl friend GG, his son Gene and daughter-in-law Margie, whom he loved as a second daughter, his daughter Lori and son-in-law, Larry Butts, whom he grew to love as a third son. He is also survived by his grandchildren Karrie, Joey, and Kelly and his great grandson Addison. Additionally he is survived by his brother Andrew, his wife Jay and daughter Maria.
