Margery Lee Proffer

Arthur R. Dykstra - Born Nov. 7, 1926 in Detroit, Michigan. Died - Feb. 14, 2015 on Valentines Day. He was 88 years old, and he was preceded in death by Claudia. She died 4 years ago in October. He has only one sister alive, Florence or Aunt Flo. There are six children left, Raymond the oldest, David, Janet, Karen, Leslie, and Brian is the baby of the family. Yavonne died at 3 1/2 when hit by a truck on Ashworth Avenue, 48 years ago. Arthur never forgot her. All three are joined together with Jesus now. Claudia, Yavonne and Arthur. He raised his kids the best he knew how. He brought them to Bethany Christian Reformed Church, day and night services on Sunday. Read the Holy Bible and prayed at each dinner meal. He put the kids in the Christian school program and we all went to Valley Christian High School. He always provided food, clothes and a home. Although not rich, he was very giving. He started his marriage with a trailer and ended with a 1/2 million dollar home. He went to Palmer Chiropractic College and graduated in 3 years. His chiropractic business never took off big enough to support a growing family, so he went back to being a plaster contractor. Arthur and Claudia lived at 6148 Lorelei in Lakewood for 58 years. He served in the Navy in the 40's. Graduated from Aryan High School in 1944. Was a Doctor of Chiropractic. Raised seven children. Left an inheritance for his children. Died with a smile on his face on Valentine morning at 7:20 am.
