• Joined the United States Marine Corp in 1966, served four years active duty and two years reserve during the Vietnam War

• Following his military service, returned to work full-time at Goodyear until 1977

• Attended Long Beach City College in the evenings, was on the Dean’s list and earned his Associates Degree

• Briefly attended California State University Long Beach

• Worked at Diversified Products in 1978 as a Distribution Manager until 1983

• Worked at Advanced Sleep Products as a Warehouse Superintendent from 1983-1989

• Worked at Columbia Manufacturing Corporation as a Traffic Manager from 1989-1993

• Worked at Links Transportation as an Operations Manager from 1993-1994

• Worked at New Breed Leasing Corporation of California as a Warehouse Manager from 1994-2002
