Mitchell LaBron Millard, of La Mirada/Hemet, passed away after a long battle with several health issues October 3, 2025, with his daughter, Melissa Luiz, there with him. He was born to the late John and Charlotte Millard, August 29, 1954, in Indianapolis, Indiana. He spent his childhood and adolescence in Tennessee, Florida, and New York when his family moved to California in 1975, where he had resided.
Mike was lucky enough to know and have had two great loves of his life. He married his first, Gail Millard, in 1981. He then met and married his second, Jeannie Cerchio, in 2019. Mike is survived by his four daughters: Melissa Luiz, Patricia Stocks, Jenny Millard, and Crystal Millard. He is also survived by his eight grandchildren: Emily Millard, Kaley Howard, Evan Stocks, Callie Stocks, Tyler Millard, McKayla Millard, Kyle Millard, and April Millard. He also has one great granddaughter: Arabella Millard.
Mike was a dedicated and loving father and Papa. He adored them and was always there for them. There was never a sports game, performance, or school function that he missed. When Melissa and Patty were younger, he coached their Volleyball Teams at both Club and school. As well as coaching the Football Team at school when Melissa was a cheerleader. When Emily and Kaley were younger, he would dress as Santa for Christmas at their school and loved grilling all the food for the evening functions. He also went as a camp counselor for both Melissa and Emily when they went on school overnight trips. He loved being involved and showing up.
Mike spent his early adult years doing what he loved most and was so proud to do. He joined the Army at 18 and fought in Vietnam as a gunner flying in the Huey Helicopters. After he got out of the Army, he served with the CA National Guard Reserves for several years. After that, he went on to graduate from the Police Academy and become a Long Beach Police Officer. Shortly after Melissa was born, he decided that he wanted a safer job that would allow him to come home at night to his family. He then went to work for Chevron and loved that too. He was with Chevron for 35 years when he retired. After a few years of retirement, he decided that wasn’t for him. So, he went on to be a Truck Driver until he was no longer able to work because of his health.
Mike loved all things related to sports and the outdoors. He never missed a game. Whether it was football, baseball, basketball, hockey, tennis, or golf. He loved it all, but his favorite was Nascar. The only thing he enjoyed more than watching it on T.V., was being there in person. He also really enjoyed camping and hunting. He loved being outside and grilling. If it was a nice day outside, he had something on the grill. He also loved the water. If there was a body of water around, he was in there swimming. He was also very good with his hands. If something needed fixing, he could do it, whether it was plumbing, electrical, or mechanical.
Mike lived life to the absolute fullest. He was always the center of attention, without trying. He lit up every room he walked into and was always the life of the party. He loved making people laugh and thought he was so funny. People just gravitated towards his contagious smile and magnetic personality. He would drop everything for a friend in need. He was the guy that would give you the shirt off his back or his last dollar, if you needed it.
