Oliver was born in Marshfield, Missiouri, the 3rd of five children, who all preceded him in passing. As a young boy he worked through the Great Depression to help support his family. Among his many jobs was picking corn in Nebraska for $1 a day. He eloped with his childhood sweetheart, Jessie Wells and moved to California in 1943. He was an independent milk man for 20 years where he once worked over a 1,000 days in a row. He left his independent milk business to work for Rockview Dairy for the last 20 years before he retired at age 65. Oliver purchased a home for his family in Bellflower in 1953 where he resided until his passing.
He is survived by his loving wife, Jessie Cantrell, his two children, Judith Doty and Ron Cantrell, five grandchildren, Maria Doty, Mark Doty, Steven Cantrell, Michael Cantrell, and Joe Martinez, five great-grandchildren, Kayley O'Connor, Galina Doty, Lucas Cantrell, Brandon Doty, and Courtney Cantrell. He is preceded in death by his daughter Carolyn Martinez.
Oliver spent his leisure time hunting and fishing across Southern California. He also loved to play baseball with his children, grand children and great grand children. He was an extremely proficient bowler winning hundreds of trophies. He loved everybody and everybody loved him. He will be greatly missed by all.
