Robert “Bob” Fredrick Schoeman was born on May 18, 1932 in Omaha Nebraska to Hazel Birdella and Fredrick Andrew Schoeman. The family moved to Compton California in 1940. Bob attended Compton Junior College graduating in 1950. Upon graduation he entered the United States Air Force in 1950 serving as an Airman First Class running trucks and heavy equipment in Alaska, Arizona, and Wyoming. Upon his honorable discharge in October 1954 he returned to California living in Compton, Long Beach, and Lakewood through the years. Bob enjoyed racing and was the starter/flagman for CRA sprint cars at Ascot Park from 1970 until 1978. Robert loved hunting, fishing, skeet, and trap shooting being a lifelong member of Compton Hunting and Fishing Club, serving as president in 1980. He was also a member of the Bellflower Elks Lodge 888, Golden Bears Trap Shooting Club, and several bowling leagues through the 1970’s. Bob loved people and the outdoors. His working life ranged from truck driver, heavy equipment operator, and various positions over his 27 year at Long Beach City Harbor finishing as a Maintenance Supervisor. Robert is survived by his loving wife Carol June, son Lance Robert Schoeman, daughter Brandy Jean Hernandez, son David Eugene Graves, six grandchildren, one great grandchild, and a second on the way. Bob passed away on November 13, 2014 at approximately 9:30 am. Services will be held on Friday November 21, 2014 at 11:00 am. Whites Funeral Home, 9903 E Flower St Bellflower, CA 90706.
