Ruth Dhondt

Ruth was born on September 13, 1926 in Glasston, North Dakota. She was the daughter of the late Henry W. and Ada (Papenfuss) Hartje. Ruth graduated from St. Thomas High School (ND) in 1944. Ruth married Roland O. Dhondt in Long Beach, California on February 25, 1949. Ruth and Roland were blessed with two children, Paul and Mia.

Ruth resided in Long Beach until 2004 when she moved to Corona, California with her daughter Mia and her family. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and aunt. She was a member of First Lutheran Church of Long Beach and was an active member of the Long Beach community.

Ruth is preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Ada Hartje; husband, Roland Dhondt; son, Paul Dhondt; sisters: Louise Dusterhoft, Myrtle Anderson, Irene McKechney, Dorothy Busch, Violet Warner and Mildred Hartje; brothers: Loren Hartje, Clifford Hartje, Orville Hartje, Russell Hartje, Allen Hartje and Henry Hartje.

Ruth is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Mia and John Molloy, of Corona, CA; grandsons, Connor and Logan Molloy, of Corona, CA, and Brandon Dhondt, of Bellmawr, NJ; sister, Marlene Murtonen, of Alexandria, MN; brother, Harris (Betty) Hartje, of Lake Havasu City, AZ; Sister-in-law Yvonne Dybedahl, of Detroit Lakes, MN. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, June 20, 2012, at 10:00 a.m. at First Lutheran Church, 946 Linden Avenue, Long Beach, CA. Interment will be at Green Hills Memorial Park in Rancho Palos Verdes, CA.

In lieu of flowers, memorials to First Lutheran Church or the Long Beach Symphony, would be appreciated.
