January 10, 1930 – September 9, 2024
It is with sad hearts that the family announces the passing of Elaine Fern Rae at the age of 94 and 8 months. She left this earth surrounded by family and friends at home on Monday, September 9, 2024. Elaine was born in Charlotteville Twp., Norfolk County, Ontario on January 10, 1930.
She is survived by her son Scott Rae of Markstay, Ontario. Predeceased by her husband Robert Rae (1995) and daughter Susan Dumoulin (2020), Grandmother to Robert and Dylan, and great-grandmother to Jordyn and Lloyd. Aunt to Louis and Sandy.
Elaine had a lengthy career as a Registered Nurse at the Hamilton General and later as a private duty nurse. She was a vibrant, joyful woman who loved camping, gardening, cooking, birds, dogs, and a beer or two with peanuts. Her laugh was infectious and she spread much joy to many dear people in her life. She took much pride and pleasure to say her husband gave her flowers every week before he passed away. In her later years, she would read a book a day and enjoyed the music of Engelbert Humperdinck and saw him in concert 4 times. There were many funny stories she enjoyed sharing; she once had 2 dates on an evening only to choose the one who took her to see Louis Armstrong. Her friend Heather once convinced her to go up in a helicopter and a balloon over Niagara Falls on the same day; that was the last time she listened to adventure advice from Heather.
As per Elaine’s wishes, cremation has taken place, and a private interment with family will follow at a later date. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Marlatt Funeral Home, Dundas. On-line condolences and tributes are available at www.marlattfhdundas.com.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to any pet rescue organization of your choice in memory of Elaine.
