She is survived by her brother Hans Biebris and her cousin Edda Lorenz who resides in Germany.
Elisabeth was born July 8, 1925 in Wartenberg, Pomerania on a large 100 hectare farm. Her older brother died at the age of 18 during the war. After the war, the property ended on the Polish side of the border and was confiscated by the government. With no reason to stay in Europe, she moved to Canada with Hans and her aunt Lotte Freischmidt in 1953. They moved to Winnipeg but it was too cold for their liking, and within a year found their way to Ancaster, eventually purchasing a country home in Alberton. She worked at the hardware store in Ancaster and never married. Hans and Elisabeth were a part of a tight-knit German community in Ancaster. She will be remembered for her love of nature, the books she read, her eclectic interests, and most notably her beloved family of Dachsunds.
A private person, Elisabeth did not request a formal ceremony upon her passing. Thank you to the good people at Hamilton General who took care of her in her final days, to the caring staff at Dundurn Place Care Center. Blessings to her aunt who died in 2001, her other friends who have pre-deceased her, and to her small circle of friends who remain to carry on her memory.
