Jean was raised by her grandmother, Jennett Eleanor (Bishop) and step-grandfather, Perry Rolfe in a little house with 5 acres of farm land in Lynden, Ontario on Highway 99.
At the age of 15, she and her first husband, the late Allan Edward Robb had their first child, the late Mary Jean Robb, followed a few years later by their second child, Susan Margret Robb. Jean later went on to marry the late Horace James Greville and they grew their family, welcoming the late James Alexzander, the late Beverly Jean, the late Douglas William Perry and is survived by James Bryan Sidney. After Horace’s passing, Jean made a life with Douglas Arthur Dent and welcomed two step-sons, Paul Douglas and Bryan Nelson into her growing family.
While she raised her growing family, she worked hard at many different jobs. Her favorite was working at the candy factory. She soon found her niche cleaning homes to provide for her family, later adding cleaning Doctors’ offices, until she retired. She cleaned for Dr. Lynn Nash while she was still attending medical school; her family fondly remembers stories about cleaning for Lynn and many other Doctors in the Ancaster and Dundas area. When not cleaning and tidying she worked as a security guard at a gypsum plant for a while.
After she retired, she found more time to spend with her family, but didn’t slow down. Present day, her family has grown to 20 surviving grandchildren (1 late granddaughter), 41 great grandchildren and 7 great-great grandchildren, whom all called her Nana. She spent many years helping to raise her grandchildren and you could find her doing a craft or wood working, taking them to the library, going to garage sales, helping them save money by picking up beer cans along the road, canning, gardening and so much more. She enjoyed the company of her family and her beloved pets. She will be fondly remembered by family and friends as being a “tough old girl,” telling you like it was and being a pillar of the family.
Jean peacefully passed away on Aug 1st 2020 with her family by her side, doing what she enjoyed the most. She has gone to rest with her late siblings Donald Fair, James A. Marshall, Harold Henry Marshall, Margery Jean (Millard).
Jean's final resting place is beside Doug in Lowville United Church Cemetery.
