John was a great guy to work with. But, then again most likely anyone who knew him would say he was a great guy in every way. My most sincere sympathies to Anna Maria and family for your loss. My thoughts are with you all as you go through this most difficult time.

I have too many fond memories of John to list them all. They all had a common denominator …Friendship, good food,BEER & Baseball. His excellence , spirit & good sportsmanship on the field, was only overshadowed by the way he treated everyone around him.Speaking of Baseball, I need to share a story. We were playing on the OAFERS  in a playoff game. We were up one Run in the ninth. Bases were loaded for the other team. For whatever the reason, John had opted to play 1st Base this particular game. I was beside him on 2nd.Their batter swung so hard you could feel the breeze, but barely touched the ball as it Dribbled up the 1st base line. Johnny ran as fast as he could(Realizing he had no play, even bare handed) Kicked the ball about 20 ft directly into our Catchers glove. Just before their runner crossed the plate. END OF GAME. Both teams were kinda stunned. Then we all laughed, and drank a lot. An amazing Ball player as well as an amazing person.  I’m gonna miss ya Brudda.    Love Popeye, Jackie & Family
