Joyce May Zelinsky

Passed away peacefully at the Hamilton General Hospital on April 11, 2021 in her 94th year.

She will be missed by her sister Audrey Westley, Loving aunt to Brad Fraser (Susan), Jim Fraser (Kelly), Lisa Pulver (Drew), Rick Scott, Jeff Scott (Tracy), and Dawn Lousie Godfrey. She will also be missed by her many great and great-great nieces and nephews, friends and colleagues. Predeceased by her parents Frederick and Nellie Zelinsky, and her sisters Mary Fraser and her husband Arnot, Donna Godfrey and her husband Frank, and her brother in law George.

Joyce was a graduate of St. Joseph’s Hospital in Hamilton in 1948 and served as a nurse across the country, but retired back home in Hamilton.

Friends may call at the Marlatt Funeral Home “Swackhamer Chapel”, 195 King Street West on Wednesday, April 14th from 3-6pm. A Private family service will be held at a later date.

Joyce was the head nurse on 3 Medicine at SJHH when I was a medical student, intern and then a Resident. She was a kindly encouraging and knowledgeable RN and mentor, who taught me a great deal about looking after patients, both emotionally and physically. I have very fond memories of working with her.
