June Ann Birchall

Passed away on June 14, 2019

After a brief illness, June passed away on June 14, 2019. To honour her wicked sense of humour, here’s what she’d say for herself: If you must know, I died. Should anyone wish to know how old I was, tell them it’s none of their business. I will definitely not be described as warm and affectionate. Truth is I was feisty and opinionated but my close friends also say I was funny, loyal and generous. What I hope I am remembered for is being an excellent Reg. Nurse who ensured the best care for my patients. To my family, Judith, Thomas, Meredith and Rhys, I love you and be good...but not too good. Gotta run, my beloved late husband, Dr. Tom Birchall, is waiting for me. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the Hamilton Public Library, Dundas branch. And no memorials please, I think they are simply dreadful affairs. Ta for now.

Dear Judith

I remember your mother's graceful, enthusiastic dancing with your Dad, long ago.

June used to frequent the hair salon I worked in. I always looked forward to her sharp wit! One particular year she bought the salon an amazing gift basket of fruits and snacks. As she presented it to the front desk, she very loudly and very clearly told our boss to open it and share it with the staff right there and then because she wouldn’t stand for him taking it home and giving us none! She never held back what was on her mind. That’s who she was to me full of love and sharp witty remarks. I will never forget her

I have found memories of my early dental assisting days with June at St. Joseph's Villa, Dundas. ( as well as being life long ,childhood friends with her daughter Meredith)
Dr. Gord Davidson, June RN, and I ran a dental clinic inserting patients names in dentures.
We had a lot of laughs. We admired her care, compassion, love and attentiveness to her patients.
Such a strong, beautiful woman, who was loved deeply by her daughter.
Mere, Rhys thinking about you and know that you are loved by friends and family xx June is always our hearts

I have many fond memories of June. She liked me, and I was always aware that she didn't like a lot of people, so naturally I was flattered. When I was a teenager, she was generous to me, and she always made me feel welcome in her home when I came to visit Judith. June was always hilarious. She had a great sense of humour which her daughters inherited. She was gracious, dignified, and hard-working. I'm delighted by her witty obituary, so true to who she was.
