I remember ... going to Mini Putt and Bowling with Grandma and Grandpa with Christine when we were kids and getting treats afterwards - as Christine would say - "good times"! ... spending time watching the Jays with Grandma at the Georgian and being invited to lunch when chicken wings were being served! ... picking raspberries behind the garage at the house on Binkley and getting to sleepover and play basketball and other games in the basement ... collecting beetles off of the rosebushes in the backyard at Binkley ... and Two Words SWISS CHALET mmmmmm!

I'll always remember when Christine and my Grandmothers met for the first time ... I remember feeling very fortunate that Christine and I both had such wonderful Grandmothers that we both love so much.

I remember when Grandma and I used to have lovely sleepovers.  She would tuck me in upstairs in the guest bedroom on Binkley Crescent, leave the hall light on and assure me that if I needed anything in the night she was right downstairs - in the morning we would squeeze oranges to make fresh juice (I may have done more supervising than squeezing!) and she'd cut up strips of toast for me that were the perfect size for dipping into soft-boiled eggs. Any time I got to sleep over at Grandma's was always a special time!

Special Memories:
That Mom and Earl were so gracious in accepting me and my three "kids" into their family when Marg and I got married, in spite of some understandable misgivings about her marrying an older man ... her continuing support for all of us throughout the years, being interested in what we were all doing, including keeping track of our cycling trips on maps of Italy, Ireland etc. ... when Christine stayed with Mom and Earl when Marg and I went to England in 1983 and how much you enjoyed having her with you for that time ... how Mom adapted so well to the drastic change of moving from her home to the Georgian, in spite of the physical limitations that her health imposed on her

Special memories:
As a little girl: Mom gave me a saucepan for the "schnibbles" when I was cutting out pictures from the catalogue ... As a bigger girl: when I stood on the dining room table while Mom hemmed my navy-checked skirt just before the speech competition! ... as a young mother: when I called her when neither child would nap, my head was pounding and she came over to help.

I remember when you and I played tiddlywinks and crokinole on the dining room table at your house ... and when you came for my Grade 6 Graduation Day at Dunlop School.

I remember ... your yummy carrot jell-o and the tuna sandwiches wrapped in wax paper for the car ride back to Ottawa ... playing games and solving puzzles with you ... listening to the Blue Jays game on the radio with you in the kitchen ... spending time with you during Christmas holidays ... the time we met you at the Thousand Islands during summer holidays ... receiving stamps in the mail from you for my collection ... when you came to Ottawa to take care of Heather and me when my parents went to Paris ... your thoughtful and calming presence.

I remember when Mom and I listened to the Blue Jays games on the radio or watched them on TV ... when we worked together on puzzles - we grouped the pieces by pattern and completed the border first - we couldn't call it a night until the last piece was in place! ... You were always in a good mood when you talked to people - it brightened their day. You were always kind, gracious and humble ... AND you always let me watch the hockey games after choir practice on Thursday nights!

Daughter Sandra's "Beautiful Memories" of Mom ...when you and I made delicious coffee cakes for Christmas gifts (I loved to sprinkle on the yummy sugar topping or add the red and green cherries for the Christmas trees and braids)... When I cut out leftover pastry dough and sprinkled cinnamon on top ... When we went shopping together for fabric for a new dress or skirt (I really liked the yellow dress with white lace on top for my Confirmation)... When we sat together on the couch looking with joy at Baby Steven and Baby Heather when they were "brand new" ... Now that I am a Mom I marvel at how you had time to make the doll clothes for my favourite "Baby Tear Drops" doll!

I remember when Grandma and I did my Grade 11 English project on her life and she let me take her wedding dress to school in it's original box!  Grand daughter

When I met Ian's parents for the first time Grandma called and asked Judy if she had heard about the Paramedic Ian had met.  The church grapevine had spread the word even before Ian's parents learned anything! We were just walking into the house when Grandma was calling!

I remember when Mom and I made eye to eye contact in front of the house at 71 Sterling St. on a late Sunday Evening.  I was outside of the house at the front porch talking with Judy.  Mom was inside looking out at us through the small window just beside the front door  I knew then that it was time to say what I wanted to and to get going.  So after about another 5 minutes we finished talking and I left. The only problem was that we had been outside talking for about two hours and I had left my friend waiting in the car!  The next evening I had to call Mom and explain to her that it was my fault that we were outside for so long.  I don't think it helped because Judy was still grounded for a week!

I remember Mom ... sitting with us colouring the designs on paper serviettes ... sitting on the radiator in my bedroom reading letters when I was home sick from school ... putting up with my anxiety when I couldn't get an important Social Work term paper started in University - I finally got a starting idea and things went well with the paper after that!

I like going to Great Grandma's and seeing the birds. Braeden

I enjoyed it when Grandma would take me to the Hamilton Children's Museum when we came on vacation.   Grandson, Ian

My siblings and I are so fortunate to have had such a wonderful and caring Aunt in our lives. Seeing the photos of family weddings, birthdays, baptisms and graduations, along with those of everyday events, has been wonderful and reminds me of what an important role she played in so many of our lives. We will remember you always Auntie Kaye.

Judy, we are wishing you and your family our condolences on the passing of your  Mother.  While I never had the pleasure of meeting her personally, I feel as though I knew her because of the wonderful person and friend you are.  As long as we remember, they are always close.  Our thoughts and love are with you.

It was always a pleasure to visit Kaye whenever I'd come up.  Her positive, cheerful outlook on people and life in general will long be remembered.  Sincere condolences to the entire Haase family.

I have lots of fond memories of Grandma during my long friendship with Christine. My two favourites are her sometimes calling me Elly or Amy when C and I were in high school, as well as the last time I saw her: at Marg's museum birthday party where she proclaimed the music was TOO LOUD!!!  Love her!  Rest in peace, Grandma. xoxox
