Kathryn Millet Eaton

December 10, 1930 – April 8, 2024
Obituary of Kathryn Millet Eaton
IN THE CARE OF

Marlatt Funeral Home, Swackhamer Chapel

Kathryn Millet Eaton (née Salter) passed away peacefully on April 8th, 2024 in Peterborough, Ontario, at the age of 93, after a brief illness. Her loss is deeply felt by her loving children Gail, David, Susan and Jonathan and their life partners Anthony, Pamela, and Margaret.

Kathryn was blessed with eight grandchildren: Simon, Jaclyn (Colin), Joseph (Nicole), Angela (Andrew), Meagan (Dylan), Erin (Alex), Thomas and Amelia, and her first great grandson Archer.

Kathryn grew up in a loving family with her surviving sibling William, and Margot and Nancy (predeceased), her extended family and many friends. Kathryn was predeceased by her husband, Donald Rex Eaton.

Kathryn was born in Toronto and was an adventurous pioneer in many ways. In 1955, she was one of the first women to graduate with a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of British Columbia. She put these skills to work at the Bank of Canada and Canada Life. Before meeting Donald, she traveled throughout Europe, after which she lived and worked for almost a year in London, UK. After she married, Kathryn moved with Don to Wilmington, Delaware USA, where her children were born. She moved back with Don to Canada in June 1968, living in Dundas, Ontario for 50 years and spending the last six years of her life in Peterborough.

Kathryn, known as Nannie to her loving grandchildren, was vivacious, gregarious, and quick to smile. She was an avid flower gardener and traveler who loved puzzles as well as games of bridge and socializing with her friends. She had a truly remarkable memory for all the details and activities of everyone in her life’s orbit. Her life will be celebrated quietly with her family, as she wished.
