OBITUARY

Odie Willet

May 13, 1953September 11, 2020

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of our father, Odie Willet, on September 11th, 2020 at the age of 67. A man of many stories, many laughs, many friends and many talents. He will be deeply missed by everyone who was fortunate to meet him.

Odie was the loving father to Janessa (David) and Kayla (Justin), his shining stars whom he was the most proud of. He will be deeply missed by the mother of his daughters, Lena. He is survived by his twin sister Shirley (Wayne), brother Wally, sister Wanda (Rick) and brother Delbert (Laura). He is predeceased by his parents Laverne and Corinne and sister Sharon. He will be missed by his many nieces, nephews, friends and pool family.

Odie, the 'Big Fella’, knew it all. He was a tough guy on the outside with a smile that lit up every room; his presence never went unnoticed. He had countless stories and advice for everyone. From a young age, he spent most of his life in pool halls, playing the game of snooker he loved so much. He later made a career of his talent, proudly owning OD’s Billiard Supply. He played hockey, baseball and golf in his younger years and loved travelling and watching boxing matches and sports. Odie loved to live life to the fullest. He had a heart of gold and a legacy that will last forever. The world will never be the same without you dad.

Odie was a very caring man. I met him by way of my husband Bill Hopkins. I watched Odie on the snooker table and was amazed at his talent. I also heard many stories of his golf achievements. When I did meet Odie, I realized he was someone that I could put my arms around and hug. So sorry for your loss.

So sad to hear of Odies passing. I will always remember as a child when Odie was at our family dinners where he was referred to as the potatoe basher by my grandmother's Ivy and Helen. Please accept my family's deepest condolences on your family's loss. He will be missed.

Sad to hear of Odie's passing. We haven't seen each other in many a long year but we were friends in our younger days and I remember his particular good humour. Condolences to all Odie's family and friends.

My memories of Odie are that big smile and BIG laughter! Was in Mrs. Castles class, grade 5 and Odie, Shirley, Wanda and Wally all in the same class. Mrs. Castle would be furious with Odie and next second she woul burst out laughing at his antics and almost wet herself! Always so fun! He will be remembered as a part of Dundas! The Hunt family

I remember in grade school at Dundana, Odie was my protector. Bullying happened then as it does now. All Odie had to do was show his face if I was being harassed and they would leave me alone. He didn’t have to say or do anything just be there when I needed him and I loved him for it. We haven’t been part of each other’s lives since our childhood, living side by side on Dundas St but I will always remember him as the guy who made me feel safe, my step-cousin, and childhood hero.❤️
