On December 30th, 2022, Patricia Ann Joan Luxton, daughter of Edward and Lillian Woollcombe, died peacefully at eighty-six at Belmont House in Toronto. Loving wife of George (Martin) Luxton (1931-2018), Patricia’s spirit continues to shine through her four children, George, Tony (Sarah Eliot), Sarah (Colin Bugler), Diana (Ian Sansom) and her six grandchildren Colin, Daphne, Hamilton, Hudson, Jack and Harry who adoringly referred to her as “Mimi”.
Family was the center of Patricia’s life. Gracious and elegant and well known for extensive awe-inspiring English perennial gardens. Our mother brought together family and friends with a passion. Meticulously planned dinner parties in Hamilton, Muskoka and Boca Grande. Patricia had a unique ability to work a room on par with even the most seasoned corporate lawyer. You could always expect warm and captivating conversation, especially if you were so privileged to sit on her right at the head of the table! Patricia was deeply dedicated to community service as Chair of the Volunteer Committee of the Art Gallery of Hamilton, President of the Hamilton Garden Club and member of Christ’s Church Cathedral.
Patricia will be forever remembered, always loved and profoundly missed by friends, family and her dear friend, Chris Wansbrough. Thank you to the exceptional caregivers and the team at Belmont House for supporting Patricia over the last few years and in particular, the wonderful support of Gail Walker, Donna Locke, Dr. Wainberg and the entire team on 4-West.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Tuesday January 24, 2023 at 11:00 am at Christ’s Church Cathedral, Hamilton with reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, the Luxton family kindly ask that a donation be made to Belmont House.
