She was a loving mother to Susan (David), Garry Hutton (predeceased December 2017) (Pat), Dariel Hutton (Greg), David (Iris), Richard (Pat), Robert (Barb) and Gillian (Doug) as well as a proud Nana of 24 grandchildren, 37 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. She is predeceased by her first husband Lieut. Glenn H. Hutton (March 1949) and her second husband, Dr. David Bailey MacLean (August 2003). She will be lovingly remembered by her surviving siblings, Francis Kearney, Betty O’Connor and Richard Lane all from the Boston area.
Regina grew up in Medford Mass., and served in the U.S. Navy (as a WAVE) in Pensacola. She was a machinist maintaining military aircraft during WWII. After marrying, she and Glenn settled in Nova Scotia. Upon Glenn’s untimely death, she was widowed with two young children. In the early 1950’s she met her second husband David and they relocated to Hamilton ON where she resided for almost 70 years.
Regina was an avid learner and enjoyed being an active member of the arts community. She joined the Dundas Little Theatre and loved appearing in many plays. She was also a member of the McMaster University Theatre Society and had the opportunity to participate in many theatrical productions. Regina was a member of the executive of the Canadian Youth Drama Assoc. where she brought drama into many Hamilton classrooms. She was also an active member of the Hamilton Art Gallery. She enjoyed many social aspects of the McMaster University Faculty Wives Assoc. The highlight of every summer would be to attend plays with her husband David at the Shaw and Stratford Festivals. Regina’s other passions were travel and politics. She and her husband travelled extensively through Europe and North America. Regina was a wonderful hostess as well as a marvelous cook and over the years entertained many guests. International graduate students were welcomed to McMaster University through get togethers at Regina and David’s home. The many happy memories and laughter shared in a home filled with siblings, grandchildren and life-long friends will always be cherished.
A private family service will be held and a Celebration of Life will take place when family and friends can come together to do so. As an expression of sympathy in lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society. On-line condolences may be made at www.marlattfhdundas.com.
