Robert Allen Hayes, in his 68th year has ended his stay with us here and moved on to the next chapter in his existence. After a very brief battle with cancer, Allen left the world a better place than it was. Allen leaves behind his loving wife Marlene Romanoski and her daughter Melanie (Alan) Rebane and grandchildren Kaia, Evan and Tamia. Marlene's son Freddie predeceased Allen by a few years. He will also be sadly missed by brother Rick and his wife Lillian (Bunny) and nieces Julia and Emily. He also leaves behind a dear cousin Ralph (Colleen). Al was a long time employee of Westinghouse Canada, worked for a while at AMJ Campbell and was still working at McMaster University. He was and always will be remembered as a loving, kind, thoughtful person with an encyclopedic knowledge of almost everything and razor sharp sense of humour. Al always thought of everyone else, performing random acts of kindness to brighten those in need. He always showed great judgment and high ethical standards and offered great advice in a friendly way. We can see Al sitting on the dock at his cottage, sipping a beer and doing the daily crossword puzzle. "Looks like it was done by a draftsman" he used to say. And by the way, the capital of Mongolia is Ulan Bator....."everyone knows that". A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, June 28th at 10:30 a.m. at the MARLATT FUNERAL HOME "SWACKHAMER CHAPEL", 195 King Street West, Dundas, 905-627-7452. Donations to the SPCA would be appreciated. Online tributes may be made at www.marlattfhdundas.com.
